Battle Report VIII

Points: 800
Mission: Implacable Advance (Battle Missions)
Set Up: Mission Specific (Battle Missions)

The war for Bakka rages ever on.  With full on assaults made by both the Tau and Necron forces, the defenses of the planet's orbit were no match for the onslaught.  The weakest point of the planetary defenses lay on the northern fringes of the planet.  This is where the Necrons first stuck.  With the unusually fast penetration of the planet's atmosphere, the Krieg 33rd was unprepared for the assault.

Now the Necrons make their move southward.  Also managing to slip onto the planet was one of O'Shova's more capable commanders.  Utilizing advanced stealth technologies, the Tau make a swift ambush on the Implacable Advance of the Necron host.

What will become of the battle, and what does it spell for the fate of the Bakkan Campaign?  Only time will tell.

Cheers!

New Wolf & Tyranids to be Released

These new models look pretty darned good.  I did like the design similarities between the new big baddy creatures of the Nids to the Herophant Bio-Titan.

Though, these models would have been nice a year ago... you know, before everyone already built there own.  If G.W. would put half the energy into putting out models more expeditiously as they do shutting down 3rd party model makers covering their gaps, we might have a lot more diversity in the hobby and on the table top.

"Roll" With the Punches

Hey there everyone.  I thought I'd take a look into some units that don't get much press these days.  You know, the ones that make you roll to see what they're going to do on that particular day?  Yeah, those.  These units are something of a remnant of 4th edition's look to make things a little less formulaic.  Though the only real place they were seen is those days are with within the Chaos Space Marine and Chaos Daemons codexes... must be something about the warp that makes you forget what you do on a regular basis :P.

These units rely on fate to make their uses seen.  From possibly rolling a negligible or potentially crippling result to massively powerful perks... these units add a certain x factor to the somewhat mathematical happenings of the game.

Happy Valentine's Day!

From all of us at Rites of Battle, I just wanted to hope you all have a good day and someone to share it with.  Though this may be a day without gaming for you, I hope your day is full of good times.  Here's a little bit to hold you over till next time you game.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone down at Bloomington this Saturday for a loving 1500 point beat down.

A Game of Dread

Hey everyone.  I saw this article and had to post up a support article.  As a long time lover of the Dreadnought, I was all kinds of excited to hear about this.  While a drive to New York is probably out :(, I hope the game goes well for them!

Cheers!

MK "Old" Pattern

Hey everyone!  So it's been a little while, but I'd like to put up an observation that has me a little distressed.  It's the Space Marine Box set.  While our good fellow gamer B at the FLGS would say that marines don't need anything, I might interject that they could use a new box.  I have been looking at the same looking marines since they came out in late 3rd edition, followed through in 4th, and have continued to be the exact same box no in 5th.  One of my biggest hopes for the armies of the Adeptus Astartes with the coming of 6th edition is the hopes of maybe getting some new models.  So why call for this new box?  Lets have a look.
